My name is Gabrielle and I am a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Brain Injury Research Center of Mount Sinai Hospital, located in New York City. Our Research Center conducts studies aimed at addressing the challenges of living with traumatic brain injury. We currently have 2 actively recruiting studies that do not require a visit to our Center. I am wondering if some of your members might be interested in taking part in either of these studies. Compensation is provided for both. Below are brief descriptions of the two studies. Would it be possible to forward this information onto your chapter?
TBI and Health in Adults – An Exploratory Study: We are seeking people who had a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) when they were at least 40 years old, are at least one year post-injury, and were hospitalized for the injury. Interested individuals will have the opportunity to participate in either 1 or 2 interviews designed to learn more about brain injury and aging. Interviews will include a brief test of thinking abilities and questions about health and functioning after brain injury. Participants do not need to come into our center to participate.
Online Group Treatment of Emotional Dyscontrol in Adults with TBI: We are seeking people who have had a TBI and any of the following difficulties – understanding emotions, losing temper, controlling behavior, getting things done when upset, taking emotions out on others when upset, feeling upset or crying for no reason. The research study will evaluate how easy it is to learn skills to deal with these problems by participating in online group therapy. Participants do not need to come into our center to participate.
I have also attached flyers for these two studies. Please contact me with any additional questions you may have, and please call 212-241-0818 if there is interest in these research studies.
